Smoke Eaters

Smoke eaters are a common name for a group of many devices that are designed to eliminate smoke in the air. There are many different types of smoke eaters. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages, and each type may be designed for a different area. Emerson smoke eaters and Honeywell smoke eaters are two of the most well known brands.

One of the most widely seen types of smoke eaters is the smoke eater ceiling fan unit. These units are designed to mount to the ceiling, and are typically designed for large areas. There are some models of home smoke eaters that mount to the ceiling, but it is more common to see such smoke eaters in business application. For example, cigarette smoke eaters on the ceiling are often seen in bingo halls and bowling alleys. Smoke eaters that are ceiling mounted most often must be hardwired into the building's electrical system, rather than just plugged in to a wall outlet.

Smoke eater air purifiers are also available in smaller forms. There are freestanding units for your home or office, as well as smaller, desktop style units. An advantage of these smaller smoke eaters is that many of these models can be plugged in to a wall outlet, which eliminates the need to pay an electrician to hardwire the unit to your electrical system. The ability to plug the smoke eaters into the wall also means they are highly portable. A disadvantage of these smaller units is their visibility. Whether you have a freestanding unit or a desktop unit, it may not be a visually pleasing addition to your decor, and it will also take up valuable space.

More Information

If you want to rid the air of small amounts of smoke in a tiny space, you may consider a smoke eater ash tray. Smoke eater candles are also available. These types of smoke eaters are generally not effective, however, especially in large areas or areas where people frequently smoke. If you have guests who smoke while they visit, and no one else in the home smokes, you will get the most benefit out of smoke eaters in ashtray or candle form.

As you can see, the type of smoke eater you need will depend on two things: the size of the area you wish to rid of smoke, and the amount of smoke present. A smoke eater can be a good investment for businesses where people frequently smoke, such as bars. However, the best solution for your home is simply to stop smoking. You will save money and your health and the health of your family will also improve.
